November is a busy time for all with the end of the year fast approaching and preparations for Christmas in full flow. It’s been no different for us here at Niche either, with a number of developments we thought you might like to hear about.
We’ve seen the arrival of a new face and recognition for one of our most experienced. We’ve also been getting behind a number of initiatives really quite close to our hearts.
Niche’s Matt Wiltshire named top UK adviser
Matt Wiltshire, one of Niche’s Independent Financial Advisers and Pension Transfer Specialists, has been named as one of the UK’s top advisers.
Having joined Niche in 2009, Matt’s rise from paraplanner to where he stands today is testament to his dedication to client outcomes. It’s also a true reflection of the high standards he demands of both himself and of the whole team here at Niche.
We’re absolutely delighted that Matt’s analytical approach to financial advice, as well as the role he’s played in our team’s professional development, has seen him recognised in the New Model Adviser’s Top 35 list.
The award celebrates the best and brightest young financial planners who are making their mark on the profession. All of the team here at Niche are extremely proud of Matt’s achievement – well done, Matt!

Supporting good causes
We were incredibly proud to support the likes of The Royal British Legion, the Welsh rugby team and the University of South Wales through November, by displaying banners on the side of our M4-facing office.
Our offices overlook the M4 motorway just before the Brynglas Tunnels, and our wall provides the perfect opportunity for raising awareness of causes and initiatives we feel passionate about. With thousands of vehicles passing through the tunnels daily (usually in a traffic jam!), we’re always delighted to shout about a local cause and play a role in our community.
Our banner for the Royal British Legion helped the charity with their Poppy Appeal drive through early-November, while our ‘Come on Wales’ banner went up as we got behind the welsh rugby team as they embarked upon their historic Autumn Internationals campaign.
Our University of South Wales builds on our ongoing Next Generation scheme – which sees us link up with educational institutes throughout Wales to offer opportunities to students in a variety of careers. Top quality education forms a key part of a thriving community. We’re proud to help the country’s largest university with their ‘Unleash Your Colours’ campaign.
Sleeping Beauty panto opens
We’ve also partnered up with Newport Live and Riverfront Arts to promote their new pantomime on our M4 wall – Sleeping Beauty. The annual panto season is now underway, with Newport Live’s offering getting underway on 4th December at Newport’s Riverfront Theatre.
This year’s panto tells the story of an evil aunt searching for the missing princess whilst the Lord and his son, the housekeeper, the gardener and the butler are fighting to ensure that true love wins. You can book your tickets here.
Chloe joins the team
Following a number of new additions to the team over the summer and autumn, our latest arrival is Chloe Behen. Chloe has joined our paraplanning team after a short time working in pensions and life assurance and has also recently graduated from the University of Gloucestershire.
Chloe is keen to learn the paraplanning ropes and has chosen Niche IFA to gain further industry knowledge and experience. Originally from Newport, she is an avid reader and aspires to one day travel the world. Welcome aboard, Chloe!
Bryn to join in with Save The Children
All of us at Niche will be taking part in the Christmas Jumper Day again this year on the 14th December. We will be joining thousands across the UK to help raise vital funds for Save the Children, who do great work around the world to help save children and change futures.
And Bryn, our resident M4 Dragon will be getting in on the action too! Perched on top of Niche HQ, we’ve already dressed Bryn up this year in a yellow jersey celebrating Welsh cyclist Geraint Thomas’ Tour de France. Bryn also donned the pink along with the rest of the staff in aid of October’s ‘Wear it Pink Day’- raising awareness of Breast Cancer.
November was a very successful month for our sports teams – especially for the Welsh rugby team, who won a historic clean sweep in all four Autumn International games, including memorable victories over Australia and South Africa.
On the 25th of the month, we took a number of our clients out to Rodney Parade, and were delighted to see Dragons triumph over Edinburgh 18-12.
Hartridge RFC enjoyed a 12-5 win against Caldicot RFC and gave Monmouth RFC a stern test, eventually succumbing 24-21. Hartridge also had the honour of hosting the Australian Wallabies ahead of their Autumn International game against Wales!
Crindau Corries put on an outstanding display to beat Fairwater AFC 4-1 and then went on to play their part in a thrilling 4-3 contest against Ponthir AFC.
Lisvane Cricket Club celebrated success when their Under-13s squad won their age group’s indoor league, which concluded with a final win against St Fagan’s Cricket Club.

Our opening hours over the festive period will remain unchanged, with the exception of the 25th & 26th December, as well as the 1st January 2019. If you need to speak to us, you can do so in the normal way, by email or telephone.
